Using the site
From Little Onward is run by Matthew McArthur. By using the site you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. The site is for adults: parents, caregivers, and the professionals who work with families. Children may use Tallykin and the Arcade only with a parent or caregiver.
Educational, not clinical
Everything on this site, including the classes, articles, tools, and Ask the research, is general education about child development. It is not medical, psychological, or legal advice, and it is not a screening, evaluation, or diagnosis of any child. Nothing here creates a clinician, therapist, or attorney relationship with you.
Every child develops differently. If you are worried about your child’s development, talk to your pediatrician or contact your state’s early intervention program; you can contact it yourself, and you don’t have to wait. In an emergency, call 911. For a mental health crisis, call or text 988. For a possible poisoning, call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222.
Articles about early intervention, special education, and family policy explain how the rules generally work. They are not legal advice about your situation.
Ask the research
- Answers are written by an AI model. They can be wrong or incomplete, so check the sources shown with each answer, and use your own judgment.
- It gives general information. It cannot assess your child, and it is not counseling or therapy.
- Do not use it in an emergency.
- Please leave out names and other details that could identify your child.
- Free use is limited to a few questions a day. We may change the limit or pause the tool to keep it working for everyone.
